The Key to Creating Great Branding

Behind every great business is a great brand. While it can be crucial in setting yourself apart, many people get it wrong. Here we want to take a look at the keys to having a great brand. We’ll also take a look at how you can create one for your business.

Create a great logo

Every great brand has a great logo. The iconic writing of Coca-Cola, the subtle apple of Apple, or those Golden Arches of McDonald’s. As soon as you see them, you know exactly which company they represent, creating brand loyalty and consumer trust.

Thankfully, it’s easier than ever to create a logo and you can even do it for free with a tool you can check out here. Logos are usually very simple and you don’t have to worry about getting too creative. It’s simply about getting your business recognized ahead of the competition.

Social Media BrandHave a consistent brand message

Do you want to be a fun company? Or serious and professional? Whatever the answer, you will want to keep your brand message the same. Customers shouldn’t read a website giving off a professional tone only to then hear an advert that is trying to be funny and quirky.

This includes being consistent with your marketing materials. A website such as Canva can be great for making promotional materials such as leaflets, brochures and posters. When you do create them, ensure they all deliver the same brand message.

Choose a look and stick with it

Probably the most underrated aspect of having a great brand is having a distinct ‘look’, which includes color schemes and fonts. What colors do you think are used on the McDonald’s website? You already knew it’d be red and yellow, as that’s part of their brand.

Once you have your colors, your font, and your style, stick with it. It’s easy to overcomplicate branding but you don’t want to confuse people. You want it to be as easy as possible for them to remember you. So keep all those little details the same.

Have a slogan or mission statement

Along with a logo, a slogan and a mission statement can be a great way to get your brand’s personality across to people. “Just Do It” is probably the best slogan of all time. You know which company is behind it and it’s all about being positive and backing yourself. Target’s “Expect more pay less” is another slogan that gives a lot of information in very few characters.

Having a mission statement can also be a great idea. This gives the whole company a focus and lets everyone else know exactly what you’re about. They are usually a bit longer than a slogan and give more information.

A brilliant example is PayPal with “To build the web’s most convenient, secure, cost-effective payment solution.” as it shows you exactly what they want to achieve. Creating your own will give your company a great anchor point.

Professional WebsiteHave a professional website

Websites are a vital part of branding, especially for companies that are just starting out. A terrible website will give off an unprofessional vibe and it may put off customers connecting with your business.

Thankfully, creating a website with a company such as WordPress makes it easier than ever. You don’t need a degree in coding or graphic design. There are templates that you can use which give you a professional website with minimal effort.

People expect companies to have a website. Without one, customers will automatically get a negative impression. If you want to develop a great brand, then invest your time and effort into a high-quality website.
